The compact, wireless design with flexible integration options allows the applicator positions to be measured anywhere in the workspace. The extensive connectivity of the associated software to the most common robot controllers allows rapid acquisition of the current state of the cell calibration and optimisation of the associated geometric parameters.
The robot is calibrated with absolute precision by moving all axes and automatically measuring around 30 points. The absolute values are calculated from the robot positions and automatically transmitted to the robot.v
With LaserLAB, tools and bases can be calibrated automatically and with high precision. This eliminates the need for probes.
A robot cell measured with LaserLAB is the basis for successful hardware recovery. When geometry changes – due to tool changes, station offsets or cell relocations – deviations are quickly and reliably detected and corrected.
As accurate as a laser tracker, as flexible as a probe – the LaserLAB system can be used to measure tools, bases, user frames and work objects just like a conventional probe – but it is user-independent, highly accurate, automatically recorded and non-contact.

Hardware
LaserLAB is only mounted in the cell or on the robot for the duration of the measurement.
The sensor and measuring rods provide simple interfaces for easy and repeatable mounting, both stationary and on the robot tool. For targeted measurement of the kinematic element.
Using specially calibrated fivefold laser triangulation, the 3D positions of the spheres are guaranteed to be accurate to 0.01mm at measurement rates of up to 1kHz (optionally up to 2kHz), with a diameter measurement range of >40mm. Depending on the measurement task, one, two or twelve measurements per sphere are sufficient to obtain a meaningful overall result.

Process
How the calibration process works with LaserLAB
Measurement with LaserLAB takes place directly in the robot cell. Measurement poses are obtained by reorienting around the centre of the sphere from an individual starting position.
Using the closed-loop calibration method, the loop:in software determines an accurate model of the robot’s axes and transmits the result to the controller.
A robot that has already been measured can be restored to its original state by repeating the measurements taken after a crash or maintenance operation.
